If I have learned one thing in my job search (which I never thought I’d have to do again), it is the fact that most of your IT jobs come from 3rd party contracting agencies.
Now most of these are foreign in nature, and these guys will basically promise the world to you only to never contact you again. You see, you are just a number to them, a commission of sorts. They obviously get some sort of kickback based upon the volume of contacts they drum up and place into their database.
Most recently, I interviewed for contracting positions with Toyota and Under Armour. I knew I was over qualified for both positions, and agreed to take to lowest starting salary to ensure I had the best chance of getting the job.
I never heard another word. Surprised?
I shouldn’t be.
